"Lawyers have always been storytellers," says Steve Martini in his Foreword to THEIR WORD IS LAW. With this idea in mind, LawyersWriting aims to give lawyers an opportunity to tell their own stories.

We welcome submissions of manuscripts of up to 10,000 words, including stories, novel excerpts, personal essays, memoirs, commentary, interviews, and features of interest to readers who take pleasure in legal fiction and nonfiction. If you are interested in sending your work for consideration, please read the following guidelines carefully. You may wish to print this page so that you can refer to it as you submit your manuscript.

Submissions may be sent to us at any time. We accept multiple submissions and at least for the present will consider previously published work. Our response time varies from one to four weeks.

Except during our open-submission periods, we require a reading fee for submission, as follows:

1) a $5 reading fee for manuscripts of 750 to 2,000 words.
2) a $10 reading fee for a manuscript of 2,000 to 10,000 words.

For all accepted manuscripts, we will post your work on LawyersWriting.com for a minimum of three months.
